An integrated source rock potential, sequence stratigraphy, and petroleum geology of (Agbada-Akata) sediment succession, Niger delta: application of well logs aided by 3D seismic and basin modeling

Abstract We investigated the source rock potential, sequence stratigraphy, and characterized hydrocarbon reservoirs at Otumara field, Niger delta, using integrated 3D seismic, wireline log analysis, basin modeling. The burial history thermal maturity were modeled, delineated, petrophysical parameters also estimated from logs. Passey “ΔLog R ” method for estimating preliminary evaluations of total organic carbon (TOC) integrating sonic, neutron, density with resistivity has been used. results indicate that primary hydrocarbons is Upper Akata Formation, despite a higher TOC percentage in Agbada Formation. Based on stratigraphy TA4, TB1, TB2, TB3 second-order supercycles obtained studied well TD46. revealed field two large net pays high-quality reservoir facies: deltaic slope fan upper shoreface river mouth sandbar lower shoreface. Furthermore, faulted by series growing faults slope. facies are an average 18% porosity, 1200 mD permeability, 16% volume shale, high saturation about 85%. Finally, petroleum system elements have defined improved exploration. In absence complete or partial core samples, this case study emphasizes importance logs to estimate richness investigate clastic sediments.
